Taking cannabis (THC/CBD) with Eliquis (apixaban) can significantly increase your risk of serious bleeding. This includes internal bleeding that you cannot see, as well as bruising more easily or bleeding that is difficult to stop. Additionally, it is illegal to drive with any cannabis in your system in the UK.

Why this happens
Cannabis can interfere with the enzymes in your liver that break down Eliquis. This causes the level of Eliquis in your blood to rise higher than intended. Furthermore, cannabis may have its own mild blood-thinning effects, which adds to the effect of the medicine.
What you should do
Back to contentsYou should avoid using cannabis while taking Eliquis. If you have used both, watch for signs of bleeding such as red or dark urine, black tarry stools, coughing up blood, or severe bruising, and seek medical help immediately. Do not drive, as it is illegal to do so with any cannabis in your system.

Taking fluoxetine with Abilify (aripiprazole) can significantly increase the amount of Abilify in your bloodstream. This makes you much more likely to experience side effects such as extreme sleepiness, restlessness (feeling like you cannot sit still), uncontrollable body movements (tremors or twitching), and dizziness. There is also a small but serious risk of a heart rhythm problem called QT prolongation.
