Can I take 10 and Esomeprazole together?

Drug interaction guide

Taking alcohol with esomeprazole can make your medicine less effective and worsen your symptoms. Alcohol increases the amount of acid your stomach produces, which directly works against what esomeprazole is trying to do (reduce acid). This can lead to increased heartburn, stomach pain, and indigestion. Additionally, both substances can irritate the lining of the stomach.

Why this happens

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) designed to reduce stomach acid production. Alcohol is a known gastric irritant that stimulates the secretion of gastric acid. By drinking alcohol, you are triggering the very process the medication is meant to prevent.

It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking esomeprazole. If you find that your symptoms (like acid reflux or stomach pain) get worse after drinking, you should stop drinking alcohol entirely. Speak to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve.
