Can I take 60 and Probiotics together?

Drug interaction guide

Taking probiotics at the same time as an antibiotic like amoxicillin can make the probiotic less effective. The antibiotic is designed to kill harmful bacteria, but it cannot distinguish between 'bad' bacteria and the 'good' bacteria found in your probiotic supplement. This means the amoxicillin may kill the probiotic bacteria before they have a chance to help your gut.

Why this happens

Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that kills or inhibits the growth of various bacteria. Probiotics are live beneficial bacteria. When taken together, the amoxicillin can neutralise the probiotic organisms, reducing their concentration and therapeutic benefit.

You should continue taking both, but space them out. Take your probiotic at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after your dose of amoxicillin. This gives the probiotic a better chance of surviving and helps prevent side effects like diarrhoea often caused by antibiotics. Finish your full course of amoxicillin as prescribed.
