Can I take Abilify and Effexor together?

Why this happens

Both medicines increase a chemical in the brain called serotonin. If levels get too high, it causes serotonin syndrome. Additionally, Effexor can slow down the way your liver breaks down Abilify, leading to higher levels of the drug in your body.

You should only take these together if prescribed by your doctor. Watch closely for signs of serotonin syndrome, such as shivering, diarrhoea, fever, sweating, severe muscle stiffness, or confusion. If you notice these, seek medical help immediately. Your doctor may need to adjust your doses.
