Can I take Acenocoumarol and Bisoprolol together?

Drug interaction guide

There is no direct interaction between acenocoumarol and bisoprolol. However, because acenocoumarol is a blood thinner used to prevent clots and bisoprolol is a beta-blocker used for heart conditions, they are often prescribed together. It is important to monitor your health closely when taking both.

Why this happens

These medicines work in different ways and do not interfere with how the body absorbs or breaks down the other. Acenocoumarol affects blood clotting factors, while bisoprolol slows the heart rate and lowers blood pressure.

You can take these medicines together as prescribed by your doctor. Ensure you attend all scheduled blood tests (INR tests) to monitor your acenocoumarol levels. If you notice any unusual bruising, bleeding, or feel excessively dizzy or tired, contact your doctor. It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking these medicines, as alcohol can affect how acenocoumarol works and may increase the dizzying effects of bisoprolol.
