Why this happens

Agomelatine is broken down in the liver by a specific enzyme called CYP1A2. Propranolol is a 'moderate inhibitor' of this enzyme, meaning it slows down the process. This causes agomelatine to build up in your body more than it normally would.

You should speak to your doctor before taking these two medicines together. They may need to adjust your dose of agomelatine or monitor you more closely for side effects. Do not stop taking your prescribed medication without medical advice.
