Why this happens
Jardiance works by removing sugar and extra fluid from the body through urine, which can lower blood pressure. Amitriptyline can cause 'orthostatic hypotension,' which is a sudden drop in blood pressure when you change positions (like standing up from a chair). Together, these effects can make you feel lightheaded or faint.
What you should do
Back to contentsYou can usually take these together, but you should be careful. Make sure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. When getting out of bed or standing up from a chair, do so slowly to give your body time to adjust. If you feel very dizzy, faint, or notice you are urinating much less than usual, speak to your doctor.

Can I take Sertraline and Fluoxetine together?
Taking sertraline and fluoxetine together significantly increases the risk of a rare but serious condition called serotonin syndrome. This happens because both medicines work by increasing the level of a chemical called serotonin in your brain. If levels get too high, it can cause symptoms like shivering, diarrhoea, confusion, severe muscle tightness, fever, and even seizures. Additionally, fluoxetine can slow down how your body breaks down sertraline, leading to a build-up of the drug in your system and increasing the risk of side effects.
