Can I take Buspirone and Fluvoxamine together?

Why this happens

Fluvoxamine blocks a specific enzyme in your liver (called CYP3A4) that is responsible for breaking down buspirone. Because the liver cannot clear the buspirone as quickly as usual, the medicine builds up in your system. Additionally, both drugs affect a chemical in the brain called serotonin, which can lead to an additive effect.

You should speak to your doctor before taking these two medicines together. If your doctor decides you need both, they may need to prescribe a much lower dose of buspirone than usual. Contact your doctor immediately if you feel unusually dizzy, drowsy, or if you experience tremors or agitation.
