Can I take Co-codamol and Lansoprazole together?

Why this happens

Lansoprazole reduces stomach acid (a proton pump inhibitor), while co-codamol is a combination of paracetamol and codeine. These drugs are processed by different pathways in the liver and do not significantly interfere with each other's absorption or effectiveness.

It is generally safe to take these two medicines together. If you are taking lansoprazole for an ulcer or severe indigestion, be aware that the codeine in co-codamol can cause constipation, which may cause abdominal discomfort. Drink plenty of water and speak to a pharmacist if you experience constipation.
