Der ZIC2 gene provides instructions for making a protein that plays an important role in the development of the front part of the brain (forebrain). This protein is a transcription factor, which means that it attaches (binds) to specific regions of DNA and helps control the activity of certain genes. The ZIC2 protein regulates genes involved in both early and late stages of forebrain development.

A combination of high-dose vitamins and minerals called AREDS2 has been tested and found to be most effective. These include: 500 mg vitamin C. 400 IU vitamin E. 10 mg lutein. 2 mg zeaxanthin. 25 mg zinc. 2 mg copper. High doses of vitamins and minerals can lead to side-effects in some people. Most babies develop a nappy rash at some stage. Usually it is mild and does not bother your baby. However, it can be more severe and sore in some cases.
