What is a ‘hypo’ and can you have one if you don’t have diabetes?

The term 'diabetes' covers a range of medical conditions that affect how well your body can digest and use glucose (sugar). People with insulin-dependent diabetes, also known as Typ-1-Diabetes, need daily injections of Insulin to manage their condition. Most other diabetes medicines are used to manage Typ-2-Diabetes. There are several different classes of medicine which all work in different ways. Often a combination of more than one medicine is needed to control blood sugar levels. Commonly used diabetes medicines include Gliclazid, Metformin und Empagliflozin.
