Der MPV17 gene provides instructions for making a protein whose function is largely unknown. The MPV17 protein is located in the inner membrane of cell structures called mitochondria. Mitochondria are involved in a wide variety of cellular activities, including energy production, chemical signaling, and regulation of cell growth and division. Mitochondria contain their own DNA, known as mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), which is essential for the normal function of these structures. It is likely that the MPV17 protein is involved in the maintenance of mtDNA. Having an adequate amount of mtDNA is essential for normal energy production within cells.

Zyklisches Erbrechensyndrom
Zyklisches Erbrechensyndrom is a condition which occurs mainly in children but can also affect adults. It is more common in people who have migraines. Children have severe episodes of feeling sick (nausea) and being sick (vomiting), sometimes with other symptoms. In between these episodes the person is completely well. There are various treatments.

Das Immunsystem
This leaflet gives a brief overview of Immunsystems and how it works. A person with a weak immune system might have difficulty fighting off infections. In autoimmune diseases the body is unable to tell what is its own and what is foreign, so it attacks itself. Autoimmune diseases can attack any part of the body - eg, type 1 diabetes.

Nephrotisches Syndrom
Nephrotic syndrome is a condition where the 'filters' in the kidney become 'leaky' and large amounts of Protein leak from the blood into the urine. The main symptom is fluid retention (oedema) which is mainly due to the low protein level in the blood. Various diseases can cause nephrotic syndrome, some more serious than others. Nephrotic syndrome.

Vulvakrebs
Cancer of the vulva (vulval cancer) ist an uncommon cancer. There are just around 1,300 new cases each year in the UK. What is vulval cancer. The vulva is the part of a woman's genitalia which is on the outside (external). See the separate leaflet called Gynaecological Cancer for more information on, and a diagram of, the parts of the vulva. Cancer.

Amniozentese
Amniocentesis is a diagnostic test. In most cases it tells you for certain whether or not your baby has a certain condition. Compare this with a screening test in pregnancy (for example, blood tests and/or ultrasound screening tests for Down's syndrome). Screening tests give you a risk estimate (that is, they tell you whether it is likely or.

Mehrlingsschwangerschaft
The ball of cells now starts to form distinct areas, including a central group of cells (which will form your baby) and the outer cells which will form the amniotic sac (membranes). The membranes have two layers - an inner lining (called the amnion) and an outer lining (called the chorion). What is multiple pregnancy. As you get older, you.
