Who is Matt Jameson?
Born and raised in the heart of Yorkshire, Matt brings warmth and a lived experience to every episode he hosts. In this special conversation, he reflects on what shaped him, his early life, his career in the charity sector, and his journey to coming out to his parents.
Matt also speaks openly about the moment his life changed overnight: becoming half of the first-ever gay marriage on Channel 4’s Married at First Sight UK. With sudden national and international attention came new challenges, and he discusses how he navigated the intensity of public scrutiny, the emotional highs and lows of the experience, and how it impacted his sense of self.
Mental health is a thread running through Matt’s story. He shares how he manages Angstzustände, the role that therapy and support networks have played, and why talking honestly about emotional wellbeing remains central to the series. Despite everything, Matt’s anchor has always been his close-knit Yorkshire family, a source of strength and humour who have supported him through each chapter.
Who is Christine Talbot?
Zurück zum InhaltChristine Talbot is instantly recognisable to viewers across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, having spent three decades as a trusted face on regional television. Her career in live broadcasting has brought her to the centre of some of the most significant stories of the past 30 years, and in this conversation she reflects on what it means to spend a life in journalism, the privilege, the pressure and the profound human moments behind the headlines.
Christine speaks candidly about her cancer diagnosis and the way it reshaped everything she thought she knew about her work and her future. Her experience during the pandemic, both personally and professionally, opened the door to redefining what comes next.
One of the most compelling moments in her story is a deeply personal one: the remarkable account of her husband’s involvement in finally closing the chapter on “Wearside Jack”, the hoaxer whose false letters derailed the Yorkshire Ripper investigation for years. It’s a reminder of how the stories we cover as journalists often intertwine with our own lives in unexpected ways.
