eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 alpha kinase 4

Der EIF2AK4 gene provides instructions for making a protein that helps direct a cell's response to changes that could damage the cell. This protein is found in several tissues throughout the body, including blood vessel walls. The EIF2AK4 protein can turn on (activate) another protein called eIF2 alpha (eIF2α), which helps control protein production. When cells are under stress, for example when the level of protein building blocks (amino acids) is too low, EIF2AK4 activates eIF2α. When turned on, eIF2α stimulates processes that reduce protein production, which helps conserve amino acids. In addition, activated eIF2α can trigger production of certain proteins called transcription factors, which control gene activity. The transcription factors regulated by eIF2α control the activity of genes involved in processes that help reduce the stress on the cell.

Myelofibrose

Patient information leaflet

Myelofibrose

Myelofibrose is a serious bone marrow disorder that disrupts your body's normal production of blood cells. This leads to reduced levels of: Red blood cells (erythrocytes). This causes anaemia. It's not known what causes the genetic mutation in blood stem cells. The gene mutation that occurs in most people affected by myelofibrosis is a mutation.

Glykogenspeicherkrankheiten

Glykogenspeicherkrankheiten are a group of inherited diseases. They result from a problem with one of the proteins (known as enzymes) involved in the conversion of glucose to glycogen, or the breakdown of glycogen back into glucose. They mostly tend to affect your liver and muscles. Most are diagnosed in childhood. Symptoms include weakness,.

Mundkrebs

Mundkrebs is also sometimes called oral cancer. Worldwide it is the sixth most common cancer. Although mouth cancer is uncommon in the UK, it seems to be getting much more common: the number of cases doubled in the 20 years from 1994 to 2014. There are around 7,500 cases diagnosed each year in the UK. It is twice as common in men as it is in.
