platelet derived growth factor subunit B

Der PDGFB gene provides instructions for making one version (isoform) of the platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) protein. This protein is involved in many cellular processes, including cell growth and division (proliferation), maturation (differentiation), and movement. The PDGFB gene provides instructions for a precursor protein that must be processed to be able to perform its function. Before processing, the precursor PDGFB protein attaches (binds) to another PDGFB protein or a similar protein called the PDGFA precursor protein, forming a structure known as a dimer. Once the dimer is formed, the precursor proteins are processed by being cut at specific locations, which forms the functional (active) PDGF proteins, called PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB.

The active PDGF-BB or PDGF-AB protein binds to a PDGF receptor, which initiates cellular signaling. PDGF signaling activates many pathways important in cell proliferation, differentiation, and movement.

Patient information leaflet

Polycythaemia rubra vera

Polycythaemia rubra vera (PRV) is a myeloproliferative disorder, which means the bone marrow makes too many blood cells. It is also sometimes just called polycythaemia (PV). There is an abnormally high number of red blood cells in your blood. Various factors help to maintain this balance. For example, certain hormones in the bloodstream and.

Thrombophilie

Patient information leaflet

Thrombophilie

When a blood vessel is injured, the clotting process is triggered. This is called the clotting cascade. It is a chain ... The clotting cascade makes the blood solidify into a clot, which sticks to the injured part of the blood vessel. Small particles in the blood, called platelets, also help to form the clot. There are also natural chemicals in.

Hämophilie

Patient information leaflet

Hämophilie

Hämophilie is a rare bleeding disorder that affects your ability to make a clot. The blood contains substances called clotting factors that work with platelets to form a clot. When you injure yourself the clot stops you bleeding. Haemophilia is a condition where there is a deficiency of clotting factors, so people with this condition usually have.

Blutgerinnungstests

Patient information leaflet

Blutgerinnungstests

Blutgerinnungstests are used to diagnose and assess bleeding problems and to monitor people who take warfarin or other anticoagulant medicines. You may be advised to have blood clotting tests: If you have a suspected bleeding disorder. For example, if you bleed a lot after cuts, or if you bruise easily. If you have certain liver diseases that can.

Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is a condition where the bone marrow makes large numbers of abnormal immature lymphocytes. What is acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is a condition where the bone marrow makes large numbers of abnormal immature lymphocytes. The immature cells are called lymphoblasts. There are.

Chronische myeloische Leukämie

Many blast cells spill out into the bloodstre... In this phase there are more than 30% blast cells in the blood and bone marrow. Very rarely, CML develops into a condition called myelofibrosis. This means that the bone marrow can no longer make red cells, white cells or platelets because it is replaced by scar tissue (fibrosis). How is chronic.
