These hot dogs with dal and red-onion raita offer a vibrant, Indian-inspired twist on a classic high-protein meal. By replacing traditional condiments with a spiced lentil mash and a zesty, fresh yoghurt relish, you create a dish that is both deeply satisfying and packed with complex flavours. The earthy notes of cumin and turmeric in the dal provide a wonderful warmth that complements the savoury, grilled meat perfectly.
This recipe is an excellent choice for a weekend lunch or a quick midweek dinner that feels slightly more adventurous. The red-onion raita adds a cooling crunch and a bright acidity that cuts through the richness of the hot dogs. Serve them in toasted naan bread for an authentic feel, or stuck with traditional buns for a fusion-style feast the whole family will enjoy.
