This vibrant Haitian Pikliz is a staple condiment that brings a fiery, acidic punch to any meal. A crunchy blend of shredded cabbage, carrots, and shallots, it is infused with the intense heat of Scotch bonnet peppers and the aromatic notes of whole cloves and fresh thyme. This vegan-friendly relish acts as the perfect palate cleanser, cutting through rich flavours with its sharp vinegar base and bright citrus notes.
Primarily served alongside fried dishes or grilled meats, this versatile pickled relish is a brilliant way to liven up your store-cupboard essentials. Making a batch ahead of time is highly recommended, as the flavours deepen and mellow beautifully after a few days in the fridge. It is an essential addition for fans of spicy, fermented-style accompaniments looking to explore Caribbean cuisine.
